At Pure Transfer, we like doing things differently. Being different comes naturally to us, it makes us stand out from the crowd, whether that means being completely obsessed with all things high purity, putting the customer front and centre in everything we do, or taking our own path when it comes to our social posts. So, with that in mind, it’s time to answer the question so many people have asked me of late:
‘Why did you create ‘The Boff’?’
When they zig you zag
Time and again, at puretransfer.com, we’ve looked around to see where everyone else was going, and made the active decision to go in the opposite direction. It’s a strategy that’s served us well – making what we do truly distinct. So, when it became clear that nobody else in the high purity sector (or in any sector at all) was using a funny puppet character to explain the ins and outs of a highly technical field, we decided that Pure Transfer would have a go.
It’s all about who you know
It wasn’t long before we were lucky enough to meet Dave Taylor, a multi-award winning television director and producer with an extensive background in building and puppeteering characters. Dave’s CV is the stuff of dreams, he trained at the Jim Henson company, going on to work as a puppeteer on projects like The Muppet Christmas Carol and The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. Who could be better than Dave to bring our character to life? Before we knew it ‘The Boff’, our chief boffin, and a legend in his own lunchtime, was born.
Why we love The Boff
We love The Boff, for so many reasons:
- Firstly, because he gave us the great opportunity to show off our geeky side. We’re not afraid to be passionate about gaskets and hoses.
- We’re also aware that the world of high purity, with all its charts, graphs, percentages, gadgets, and gizmos, can look very inaccessible from the outside. So, The Boff helps us explain to anyone who needs help getting up to speed with this very technical field, that we at puretransfer.com are hugely approachable, and always happy to share our know-how.
- Sometimes, even though they’re hugely technically impressive, some of our bits of kit might seem a little ‘dry’ to the uninitiated. So, introducing them with a little help from our ‘offbeat’ scientist help can be an easy way of keeping our viewers’ focus where it should be – on our product line and its benefits for them.
- There’s not enough laughter in the world, so if we can add a few more giggles to the pot, that can only be a good thing!
Expect to see much more of The Boff
So, with all this in mind, expect to see a lot more of The Boff in 2025. He’s become a big part of the Pure Transfer family. And, arguably the best thing about him is if he talks too much it’s easy to pop him back into the drawer where he lives!
If only everyone was as easy to get along with as a puppet!
